Hideaway by Aahma falls in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand and has geographical and ecological characteristics of the Sub-Himalayan belt. It comprises an entire hill of the Kumaon Himalayas and is flanked on three sides with dense Sal forest connecting it to the famous Jim Corbett National Park. To the north, it is connected to the Oak and Rhododendron Himalayan mountain forests of Nainital forest division and the western boundary is etched by a sub-tributary of the Kosiriver. Broadleaved deciduous forest, riverine vegetation, scrubland, grassland along with gorges and ravines form a varied topography inhabited by rare wildlife. The sitabani reserve gets above 600 species of resident and migrating birds throughout the year. Being a part of the trans-Himalayan birding corridor, the reserve gets both plain and mountain birds during latitudinal and altitudinal migration patterns. Some Himalayan animal species like Himalayan Black Bear, Himalayan weasel, Yellow-throated Pine Marten, Himalayan Goral and Serow also visit the reserve especially during the winter months. Indian leopards in this reserve inhabit the craggy cliffs and gorges to avoid interaction with the dominant predator, the Royal-Bengal Tiger which prefers the thickly forested valleys and lowlands. Herds of Asiatic Elephants often pass through the bamboo plantations of this nature reserve when migrating between the core and buffer areas of Jim Corbett National Park

Our story has its roots in 1989, when Akbar Ahmad (Managing Director) laid the foundation stones for the brand AAHMA.A deep love for nature and wildlife led him to acquire lands in the idyllic Kumaon region of Corbett and Ramgarh. While he led a distinguished public life, the visionary Mr Ahmad found peace and tranquility being amidst nature.
He passionately built a sprawling farmhouse for his family as a holiday home with an in-house poultry farm, cattle and ducks. The practice of sustainable farming that he inculcated is something we continue till date.

The majority of our staff employed is from the villages and towns within the immediate vicinity. As such, we are supporting many families and providing an income to sustain not only a household, but a lifestyle, including medical and education benefits. We feel that its but our responsibility to give back to the society where we operate.
From a conservation perspective we focus on wildlife, as our location is adjoining the Jim Corbett National Park. We strive in promoting ethical guiding practices and trains Rangers to be more knowledgeable. In terms of sustainability, we are also looking at options, such as a nursery for tree planting to maximize forestation and endeavor to avoid all plastics initially and completely in the future. Waste bins are provided all over the resort. We do separate the food waste | dry and plastics in our operations and food waste been collected by a local firm for processing renewable energy.

Jim Corbett is the oldest national park in India, has the distinction of being visited by many generations of nature lovers since 1939. The weather remains idyllic throughout the year in this part of Uttarakhand, making it truly an ideal destination for both leisure and adventure. A massive 520 sq kilometers, this includes diverse terrain from the gurgling rivers, to steep hills and of course dense forest. Plays host to a wide array of wildlife including Tiger, Elephants, Leopard, Jungle Cat, Nilgai, Sambur to mention some and over 500 species of resident and migratory birds. The best opportunity for viewing game is in the early morning and late afternoon. The Park operates four-wheel drive open top jeeps or canters for these excursions. Safaris are led by Jim Corbett Forest Authorities appointed guides who take guests on one of a range of routes through the park. Excursion times are set by the park authorities as only a limited number of vehicles are permitted inside the park core at any one time. The permits are issued 45 days in advance on a first come first served basis.
